The history of the house
The Ötzbrugger family
The Hirschtenne looks back on a long and eventful history. Today’s guest house was once a stopping point for stagecoaches and was closely associated with the famous Cistercian monastry in Stams. Furthermore, Captain Alois Kluibenschedl, freedom fighter and companion of the Tyrolean national hero Andreas Hofer, was born in this building in 1772. The Ötzbrugger family has now been running the Hirschtenne for three generations. Veronika and Bernhard Ötzbrugger have developed the house into a modern hotel and restaurant with a feel-good factor.
